It’s like 3:00 AM (okay, it’s like 4:00 now, but it was 3:00 when I started), and I’ve decided to let you know a couple of things that are on my mind. You have been thus warned. Let’s start with a couple of music-related buggers.
I caught the new Michelle Branch video today – it’s terrible. The first three were so cool. The whole polaroid thing, the Matrix-feel freezes, and the Momento deal? They just kept getting better – the last one even had a goldfish! All music videos with goldfish are insanely good. But this one…was boring, hard to follow, hard to look at, everything. It was just not “all I wanted.” I didn’t “get her.” “I’m not happy now.” The badness was “everywhere.” …right, that last one sucked hard. I’m sorry, it’s late.
There’s this thing about the band Live that bugs me. “The dolphins cry” so “run to the water” guys? Yeah, what bugs me is the name. “Live.” It’s odd. Especially for concerts. Because then people announce them by going “It’s Live…live!” Which…is weird. What if they made a song called “Live?” Then it’d be like “Live! By Live! Live!” Or if there was a city called Live and they toured there? “Live live at Live, performing Live…live! I live in Live!” Wouldn’t that be the craziest thing ever?
Do you ever get the feeling that a word you’re writing multiple times over seems really misspelled? Like for example…the word “live?” It boggles my mind, because I don’t know why. How do you “live” with that? HA HA HA!!!
What’s up with that rapper dude “Birdman?” Why the hell would a rapper name himself after a bird? And not one of the “cool” birds either – like…I don’t know, like a falcon, an eagle, or a raven or something. No, the guy’s throwing around these doves or pigeons, and he’s got the coo down in the song and everything. It makes no damn sense, and it’s bugging the hell out of me. Why not the usual stereotypical rap animals, like the dog? Why a bird?
I’ve expressed this issue of mine to certain people before, but it’s bugging me again tonight. Wolverine. The X-Men guy. So for those of you who don’t know, he’s got these crazy foot-long, sharp, adamantium claws that pop out of his hands, right above the knuckles. So here’s what I’m wondering – where do the claws go when he doesn’t have them popped out? That chunk of arm (I have no idea what it’s called) between his wrist and his elbow right? I mean, it’s the only place long enough and close enough that makes sense. So we got these foot-long metal blades that slide back and forth between that bit of his arm and out his knuckles. But then how does he pop them out when his wrist is bent? They would go out of his wrist, instead of the usual place that’s above his knuckles. So he can only pop them when his forearms are completely aligned and straight? But I’ve seen him do it with his wrists bent – to pick locks and stuff like that! It’s not realistic, and frankly I will not stand for that in my comics.
After literally months of extensive trials and tests, I have finally determined what my official stand on Vanilla Coke is. It is better than the Classic Coca Cola. I used to hate the stuff – especially the smell – but…no longer. This stuff is good. Maybe that’s what’s keeping me up so long – the six-cokes-a-day trial run might have been a little excessive. Excessive, but necessary.
It’s a good time to be a Jays fan. Even setting aside this amazing season we’re having now, it’s still good to be a Jays fan. Look at the alternatives. The Leafs – as strong contenders as they’ve been in recent years – haven’t won a cup since 1967. And the Raptors…well, let’s not talk about the Raptors. But look at the Jays – it was a “mere” ten years ago that we won the World Series. Back to back in ’92 and ’93. And reaching the American League Championships in ’91. So dammit, I’m going to go out and get a Blue Jays hat before those nasty rumours I hear (about dropping the “Blue” out of “Blue Jays” and putting in black somewhere on the uniform) become true. We’re making the play-offs this year – I call it. Quote me, laugh at me, whatever – I’m calling it. Toronto Blue Jays in the 2003 Major League Baseball Play-Offs. There, I’ve called it.
I have determined that the Flash can beat any comic book character in a straight up fight short of the Silver Surfer. However, what relevance this has to my daily life is something I have not yet determined.
…annnnnd…I’m out. Got nothing left in the noggin’ tonight. I’ll see you folks later.
