Ah yes. I have roughly 50 hours to learn half a year’s worth of physical chemistry…but instead, I’m here. And for the life of me, I can’t explain why. I’m thinking now that I should have paid more attention in class, instead of…well, not paying attention. What sucks is that I went to all the awful 5:00 classes and did all the homework too – so I didn’t even get to enjoy the usual benefits of not knowing a damn thing. Ah, but that’s them breaks.
Anyway, growing up as a SEGA kid instead of a Nintendo one was kinda tough early on. And then again in high school. As a kid in grade 2 or 3, I’d get teased about not knowing which pipe to go down when I went to play NES at people’s houses, and about how sucky Sonic was. Even though everyone knows that Sonic could kick Mario’s fat, useless, Italian ass any day of the week. And then later on in high school, people would laugh about how sucky the 32X and the SEGA Saturn were. Well…the 32X (if you even remember it) did indeed suck huge amounts of ass (I managed to check it out when Toys ‘R Us had it on display), but despite incredibly low sales – the SEGA Saturn was a damn good system. And I will argue to the death that the Saturn controller was the best controller of all time, even beating out the godly PlayStation dual shock.
And hey – my Bessie is still better than your retarded X-Boxes and PS2’s combined. That’s right. You heard me. Four years old, and she’s still kicking it old school style.
But whenever someone would bring up the 32X or the Saturn, I’d just bring up the Power Glove or the Virtual Boy. Remember those bad boys? No? Then let me remind you.
Ah man…that Power Glove commercial still gets me rolling everytime I see it. It’s still as sweet as the first time I saw it on television. You IDIOTS! What the hell were you thinking? At least SEGA’s comercials were kinda cool – with that “SEGA!” at the end and everything. And too bad that site doesn’t have the commercial for that Power Scope thing that was released when the SNES first came out. You know, that commercial with the kid rolling around his living room, while the robots on the screen would blow up his furniture? That ruled.
And yes – Sonic beats Mario. Think about it – Mario can only kill certain types of enemies by jumping on top of them. But Sonic can kill enemies by jumping on top of them and by jumping up into them. Plus in later games he had that spin-ball move, letting him attack horizontally as well. Also, enemies jumping down onto the spin-ball (ie. Mario) would die and turn into little rabbits or penguins. And don’t argue for Mario getting fireballs – if Mario gets the fire flower, than Sonic gets the fire shield, and he still kicks Mario’s ass.
