This Escalates Quickly

The cast of Anchorman 2 appeared on The Daily Show yesterday, and I think you should watch the clip.

EDIT: This YouTube link ain’t too shabby.
Here is the link, and if that doesn’t work then try the Canadian link. And if that doesn’t work then you’ll have to settle for a bootleg YouTube version before it’s taken down.

Paul Rudd really does look strangely unaged.

I remember Steve Carell being a funnier improv/off the cuff guy, but everyone’s got good and bad days. But when they start talking about Rudd and how Jon Stewart feels like if he killed him he could become him, instead of going to the cut-off-his-face-well, I thought he was going to go like “You can, actually – this is the third man since 1995 to wear the mantle of Paul Rudd.”

Watching Ferrell in particular is interesting – you can kind of see the gears turning right before he chooses to escalate the fruit bit. I’m almost positive the rest of it after that is just unscripted. I think the revealing of the fruit and the open interview with Carell was premeditated and designed to be like two minutes long. But after that…to bring these guys on for a five minute segment with nothing else written is essentially just like a head coach calling a timeout, down two with seconds left, and just telling his players to call whatever play they want. Watching Ferrell here is like watching LeBron driving to pull a help defender and deciding between whether to pass to Battier in the corner as his man rotates off him or to Wade’s baseline cut. He throws the straws, wants to smash the cup too and reconsiders, takes the vase and takes a slight turn left to smash it on Stewart’s head and reconsiders, turns right instead and grabs the globe as well and takes it into the crowd.

He’s wide open.

“Take it easy, Champ. Why don’t you stop talking for awhile?”
“Maybe sit the next couple plays out.”

Destined to fight the world's evil, The WAMBAG endures massive battles involving impossible stunts, races on horse-pulled carriages, and the desecration of enchanting medieval castles (all done with dizzying computer graphics). Not only does the eye candy keep on coming, the tongue-in-cheek writing and deep Transylvanian accents perfect the film with a dose of dark humor.

Tagboard (!?!)

Apparently PHP7 doesn't support the same function calls I wrote in 2008? I should fix this at some point.
