Although I agree that 3-D fighting games are the spawn of satan himself, you can't deny that they look pretty. And if the game will be played in two dimensions, but look three-dee, I wouldn't complain. Imagine a carbon copy of any capcom game, but with 3-D characters. That might be cool.
Since we're on the topic of video game sites, www.themushroom.com has become a mere drunken shadow of its former greatness. I didn't provide a hyperlink, because I don't want you going there. It's pure crap now. Before, it had humorous faux news related to gaming. Now, it's just some new guy bitchin' and moanin' about Huntress rushes and Orc offensive towers. Like we need another site doing that. How disappointing. Maybe later I'll check out the "chickssuck" website, which I found from an ad off the shroom, and hope that it too hasn't gone the way of the dinosaurus rex.

Now that I've relatively unbusied my self, I'm been able to check up on my usual sites. Here's some interesting day-old nerd-related news.
The wonderful wealth of street fighting goodness know as
The Madman's Cafe has sniffed up a new
Capcom fighting game with characters including Ryu, Chun-Li, and Strider Hiryu. Cool. Too bad it's in 3D. Because then it sucks. No one seems to understand that 3D fighting games suck. You heard me, all you Tekken/DOA fiends! I hate you! Check it out
here - concept art provided by the lovely Senri Kita of SNK fame.
Also,
the fledgling video game company that Joe Madureira helped set up is
no longer with us. As a video gamer, I mourn the loss of a promising studio and wonder why - oh why - the world is so harsh. But as a comic book fan, I rejoice and say good riddance. Maybe that scummy rat bastard will realize that you can't escape the clutches of the cruel mistress of comicdom. He better get
his act together again.

I've been crazy busy these two days, so I didn't really get a chance to log on the 'bag. So I'm posting for the 26th, since I didn't really do anything interesting afterwards.
Now pretend it's actually the 26th... Woke up at 5:30 AM "today" for the
Student Web Service for UoT. It's the second round of enrollment and I need to add some computer courses that were unavailable the first round. I need to get the good courses that fit in my schedule before they fill up, so I have to be on the site at 6:00 exactly, when it opens up. So I figure half an hou's enough to let me frickin'
wake up and think correctly.
So I'm there at 5:59 and I'm clicking the refresh button like mad. But the server's being beaten to death by thousands of users, and it takes me like 20 minutes to finally log in successfully. My connection times out over and over again, and I'm finally able to get the courses I want at about 7:00. I'm meeting some friends to go downtown to pick up textbooks in a couple hours so I decide to stay up and just sit around.
While walking around downtown at the bookstore I realize that I don't have enough money or manpower for the textbooks. There's at least two books for each course, so my five courses equals to roughly ten textbooks. There's no way I'm carrying ten textbooks back to the subway and back home. I can't even
lift ten textbooks. Plus the cost would run close to $1000 and my Interac has a daily limit of $200. No credit card yet. So I buy what I can and drag them back home.
I hit home, take a quick shower, and head out again for dinner at
A Taste of Japan. I'm meeting up with all the grads from my church fellowship to have some fun before everyone leaves for their respective universities. Suffice to say, we make quite a ruckus and have a very good time. It took me a while, but it finally hit me that night, that I was gosh darn
graduating. High school went by incredibly fast, even with the fast tracking. I don't remember my grade 9 and 10 years - they've kinda merged together into one big blurry memory. While high school could have been a lot more than what it was, I can't say it was all bad, and I'm missing it already. I don't believe I'm a freshman again.
After tasting Japan, we went off to someone's house where we played pool and did some stupid stuff for a couple hours. Wonderfully nice house, so clean and nicely decorated. I wish my house had carpet. Got to know a lot of the grads better that night, I'm surprised at how much I'll be missing a lot of them. I don't really know that many people very well at the church, but over the years they've made a huge effort to get to know me better and I'm very grateful for that. Swell guys. Well, it turns out that I'm pretty bad at pool. Got trounced fairly badly on a number of occasions. We had a lot of fun, time flew by pretty fast. I managed to get home at about 12:30, and ended up sleeping at like 1:30. So I stayed awake for like 20 consecutive hours. Whoo. Now I'm tired just thinking about it.
We should get around to doing something this week.

Random Thoughts:
So I was hulahooping the other day, got more exercise then than I've all summer -- bending over every 3 seconds to pick it up was quite the workout.
Girls: its a compliment when a guy at the Key Club car wash who was holding up signs waving bloofs in hands you the big floppy sign and says "We need somebody more attractive to take my post; I'm scaring the customers away."
I bought a "free" whiteout pen -- full rebate with receipt. Then it rained. Receipt dissolved. Cripes.
My life is a perpetual Plan B.

Yak's Funtime Through The Maritime. Higher resolution pictures available on request.
Ugh...tired. Don't be surprised if I don't post again before I leave Friday afternoon. And from what I hear, all three of us (me, Jill, and Assface) are going to be gone for the weekend. So have fun you two.
FlamingSheep
Yes, more posters would spice up the flavour of the site. Right now it's all steak and no sizzle, so to speak. Can't wait to see all those zany adventures you must have gone on in the cold, desolate barren wasteland they call "the maritimes". Oh, and you've got it all wrong. Assface is on vacation.
Choking Yak
Hey chaps, good to be home again. Lovely trip, I have some wacky things to talk about. Not right now though, I need some time to do a proper write-up and format pics and whatnot. I'm guessing it's going to be a bit long, so I won't include it as a blog, but probably as a separate page. And I think that as long as I'm at it, I may as well work up an "Articles" section or something, where we can add longer rants and bits like that.
...actually, on second though, that might take a lot of work. I'll play around with the idea a bit more in the days to come and decide about it later.
On a separate matter, I'm wondering about the site. I think it could benefit with a bit more traffic - by that I mean specifically, more posters. I mean, Assface(?) said he was too damn lazy and didn't have the time, but seriously, how much time do you put into this piece of...wonderful site? And Jill(?) isn't back yet I don't think, but I'm not too sure what he thought about this. Is it worth asking them again, or what?

I hate you blizzard. As soon as combat starts, War3 goes to 2 FPS. In other words, it takes 10 frames for my forces to be decimated ten times, then another 10 frames for my base to explode, and I don't even get to see the attack animations. Life's not fair.

Kinda long post here, so bear with.
I got a swell set of funs to end the summer off with. First my family's hooking up with one of those crazy chinese bus tours. Not sure where we're going specifically, but I'm pretty sure it's like the east coast of Canada...maritimes and all that. My cousins went a few years ago, and they told me to check out the
McLobster. That should be plenty exciting. I'm setting off in like...5 hours or so, and I thought I'd make a nice contribution to the 'bag before I dropped out for five days. Then we're taking a plane home on the Thursday so I can hurry home, unpack, and repack for a summer retreat with my church fellowship from Friday to Sunday. This should be one kick ass retreat, looking forward to lots of baseball and getting to know some great people a little better.
I stole a digital camera from work to fool around with during the trip(s), and it's been pretty fun so far. Lookee
here. And when we went around No Frills stashing up bus snacks I stumbled onto a little oddity. Have you ever imagined what peanut juice would taste like? No? Well I haven't either. But apparently
it does exist, and the monster set me back $0.87 - but which I gladly parted with just so I could taste it. Well...I wouldn't say it's $0.87 wasted - I can't say "it sucks" - it wasn't bad. But mind you, it wasn't
good either. I'm not going to drink it again, and I don't think anyone else should either.
So I'm going to be out for the next week, and my return should match up with A's so I we can hook up to do something to complete my summer. Have fun chaps.

So my cousin visited me today, while I was playing SC. Needless to say, I was a pretty poor host until a squad of mutas tore into my base because I was trying to pump hydras while ushering my cousin out of the house. She's 5 months older than me, and she's going to university this Sep and is doing her first (i think) job. She's making tons o' money, driving around and doing a lot of old people things (like taking my gramma to tea). Should I be worried or something?

Even the all-knowing
Jeeves can't answer that question. I know you fear it, but perhaps she's one of
these. Search your heart, you know it's true. I bet she doesn't even wear a tie in her second video (Hotness drops 40%).
And there's nothing wrong with my rear speakers. They're for the rear... they don't play all the music!
Rabid Emu
Why does Avril Lavigne's second single suck?? Now, I haven't really heard the song in its entirety, in the sense that I heard it over the phone from Bri's "distorted" "rear" "speakers." Still it was sad. The first song was so good. She even got a laudatory article in Time. Waiting for the third single..... but a weak second single is never a good sign for an artist with a killer first single. She's too hot to be a one-hit wonder.......

Well... the summer is almost over. Fifteen or so more days before I wish to blow my freakin' brains out. Again.

I just played a few SC BSes ...backstabs. Y'know, join a buncho kids doing a 7v1 comp stomp, and then kill everybody in the game. Sounds abhorrable, no? Well,
this site (was around when SC was still popular, whence you could create any sort of game from 2v2 Dire to LT to Hunters and have it fill up within a minute) made backstabbing popular. This site endorsed it and rationalized it: besides it being fun, ICL suggested that "newbs" who got BSed in their 7v1s would suddenly wake up from their foolish ways and start playing the real game. Its the same mentality as the PKs who kill people in public Bloody runs. Now that I think about it, BS in SC renders an eerie resemblance to PKs in D2. Similar motivations.... either the aggressor a) is a sick bastard, likely a loser IRL, who likes slaughtering easy "opponents", or b) does it to "teach a lesson" -- in SC, that 7v1's are bad, and in D2 that leeching/blood runs/powering is bad. Well, I wanted to believe I was "teaching a lesson" ... doing some good for the SC community or something. Its sad to see people play endless hours of 7v1 to build their precious 3953421-0-0 records, when I know that a proper 2v2 LT game is just better in every way. But that doesn't give me the right to judge these idiots!! *cough* I mean, I feel bad. People aren't going to change like that, and if they're having fun, let 'em at it. In the bigger picture, its not really like my 2v2 Ashrigo is time better spent than their 8v1 C0MpsTomPzzzzzZZ!!!!1111111 game.

Goodness me, it's been so long since I've played any computer games. I don't know why, it just got a little less interesting each time I booted something up, to the point where it just didn't seem worth the effort to double click the
CS icon anymore.
With that said, today I managed to get around to installing a copy of
Jedi Knight II I got last time we went out. And deary me, I'm so out of it. I can't play it. I'm physically and mentally uncapable of performing in this game. Within ten minutes of the first level I had already killed myself twice; once from falling and once from some explosion whose cause still remains a mystery to me. And I'm stuck. Stuck in the first level. I can't figure out where to go, what switch to hit. And get this - after only an hour -
I got dizzy. What the heck? Dizzy? From a video game? So I turned it off and I'm giving myself a day to gather my wits and to get back into the flow of things. But now I'm scared. Scared of what I've become.

wombat
// noun 1. any of several species of large, burrowing marsupials constituting the Australian family Vombatidae, heavily built with short legs and a rudimentary tail, and somewhat resembling small bears. 2. Australian Colloquial an uneducated or stupid person.
--phrase 3. blind as a wombat, Australian Colloquial very short-sighted or completely blind. [Aborig.; Dharug wambad, wambaj or wambag (possibly dialectal variants)]
Can't find the source for this, and I don't want to wade through weird Australian dictionaries. Those crazy aussies.

Yup, I think I fixed up the thingy with the nicknames. My bad. Wait. Is it "thingy" or "thingie?" I mean, it's usually the "y" but the "n" before the "g" kinda throws me off. My goodness, life's so confusing sometimes. I don't know how I go on with it everyday with problems like this. I will be shunned and mocked by my fellows if I slip up with a common spelling mistake.
So. Uh...movie. Yeah. We watched
Signs, all of us together. And rather than tell it to their faces, I thought I'd say something about it here (because...I'm scared to talk to people). I think that was one of my best non-sleepover outings with the buddies. Dang it, I crammed in comics, smelts, Conan, winning Chu Chu, slaughtering MvC2, stupid driving, an obscure Marvel roleplaying joke, a great movie, and blaring oldies/rap out my car at full volume
all in one day (and in that order for your convenience).
This is what the summer's about - brings a frickin' tear to my eye. Just for the record - my favourite part was driving past the crowd at the theatre with
I'm A Soul Man at full volume.
Wes so crazees.

WABAG sounds gay. I will not be associated with WABAG.
EDIT: Please change the code to use nicknames and not names please. I'm not resigning up at Blogger just for this.

That was one good StarCraft session. Almost makes me miss the game. Almost. Course my favourite part was when they snuck up along the sides and ravaged my house. ...this would be the part where I post a screenshot...but I was too busy screaming to press the button. Ah well. Next time.
And yes, I believe we should use code names. And refer to them as "code names." Instead of an "alias" or "AKA" or some other serious crap like that. This is afterall,
The WAMBAG. No wait...it's
The WABAG now. Dang nab that rat bastard. Needed that M so badly.

Ladies and gentlemen,
The WAMBAG is fully operational.
...'cept for the header at the top of course. And getting the team together. And that stupid thing in the middle. And some other miscellaneous minor details. But close enough. With any luck, this should usher in a new age of ranting and raving whose likes we've never imagined. Or at worst, it's something to do on those boring Sunday afternoons. Please notice that the basic workings of the site are working well.
Blogger's always great,
YACCS is the best comment service out there, and
Tag-Board's...eh...Tag-Board's okay. I don't like it that much, but it's basically functional. And until I figure out how to get some crazy CGI or PHP thing working, it's the best thing out there. I'll be contacting youse guys to give you the proper information about everything as soon as possible. Or whenever I feel like it.
But for now, I'm kinda tired. So I think I'm going to sleep first. Yeah.
FIRST POST!!!
